Women's Conference Gift Ideas That Don't End Up in a Drawer

PinterestFacebookXEmail

A friend of ours went to a women's conference this month. Two thousand five hundred women, two days, a strong speaker lineup. Every attendee got a band with the conference verse printed on it. She wore it home, and by Wednesday it was in the cup holder.

That is not a knock on the band. It is what happens to almost every conference gift, because most of them are designed to be handed out, not to be used. Here is a list of gifts that survive the week after, and one change that makes the verse band the best thing in the bag.

What makes a conference gift last

Three things, and the gift needs at least two:

  • It goes on the body or in the routine. A wrist, a keychain, a coffee cup, a bookmark in the Bible they actually read. Things that live on a shelf stop existing after a week.
  • It carries the weekend's message. The theme verse, the name of the conference, the word the speaker kept coming back to. When she looks at it, the weekend comes back.
  • It still does something. A journal gets written in. A band gets tapped. A card gets mailed. A gift that has a second act outlasts one that only has a first.

Ten women's conference gift ideas

1. A prayer band with the theme verse. A silicone band with the conference verse on it, and a chip inside that opens a page when she taps it with her phone. On that page: the verse, a note from the conference team, and the prayers of every woman who tapped hers. It goes on the wrist on day one and keeps working after. More on this below.

2. A theme-verse bookmark that fits a real Bible. Card stock, one verse, the conference name small at the bottom. It gets used because it goes where she already opens the book.

3. A small journal with the first page already written. The speaker or host writes one paragraph on page one before printing. It is the difference between a blank book and a started one.

4. A hand-lettered verse card for the mirror. One card, one verse, meant for the bathroom mirror. Say so on the back so she knows where to put it.

5. A prayer list card for the people she came with. "Three women I am praying for this month," with three lines. Fill it in at the last session, together.

6. Tea or coffee with the weekend's word on it. Something she will use on Monday morning when the weekend already feels far away.

7. A photo of her table. Print them Saturday night, hand them out Sunday. Tables become groups, and the photo is what the group text starts with.

8. A song sheet or playlist card. The three songs everyone sang. A QR code to the playlist is fine here, since it is meant to be opened once and saved.

9. A second band to give away. Give each woman two bands: one to wear, one to hand to someone who was not there. The conference travels.

10. A stamped envelope addressed to herself. She writes a letter to herself in the last session. Mail them in six weeks.

Why a verse band does more when it can carry a prayer

The band our friend got had the verse and nothing else. It could not tell her who else was wearing one, it could not carry a note from the team, and it could not be prayed over. Once the weekend faded, it was a color.

A prayer band starts the same way, with the verse on the outside. The difference is what happens when she taps it:

  • She sees the conference's page: the verse, a welcome note, and a prayer from the host that every attendee reads.
  • She can leave her own prayer, with her first name or anonymously.
  • She sees how many women have prayed along, and she can pray for them.
  • If she gives the band away, the next person taps into the same story, and she is told when they do.

For the conference team, it means the two thousand five hundred bands are not two thousand five hundred separate objects. They are one wall of prayer that keeps growing for weeks, and a way to reach every attendee who wants to be reached, without collecting a single email address.

Ordering for an event

Bands come in solid colors and themed designs, with sizes across a room of women. The store has a Bulk Order tab for choosing sizes in one grid, and larger quantities are discounted. For an event of several hundred or more, contact us early. We will help with the verse, the welcome note that every band opens to, and timing, and we can set up the conference's prayer circle so it is ready before the first session.

Allow more lead time than you think. The bag is packed the week before, and a band that arrives the day after does nobody any good.

If you are new to how the tap works, What Is a Prayer Band? walks through it in five minutes.

Pray for someone by name this week

A Prayer Band is a waterproof wristband you tap with your phone. Give one, and every prayer you send travels with the person wearing it.
